Canto Diáspora celebrates the release of its debut album with a special concert and party at MaHalla.

Founded in Berlin in 2023 by Colombian singer and artistic director Carolina Riaño, Canto Diáspora brings together around 40 women, mostly from Latin America, who meet through the power of collective singing and the musical traditions of Abya Yala.

The ensemble’s work is rooted in oral tradition: songs are learned through listening, repetition, rhythm and the body, without sheet music. What emerges is more than a choir — it is a living space of connection, memory and shared musical experience.

In 2025, Canto Diáspora released two singles in collaboration with producer Daniel Haaksman. Now, in autumn 2026, the ensemble presents its debut album, featuring nine songs and collaborations with outstanding musicians from the Latin American and Spanish music scenes. The album brings together traditional songs, contemporary compositions and new arrangements, creating a vibrant dialogue between inherited musical traditions and the experience of living in Berlin today.

For the release night, Canto Diáspora will be joined by musical friends for a live concert, followed by DJ sets until 22:00.
