Ulrike and Günther-Jürgen Klein have been collaborating as an artist duo since 2016. Drawing on their backgrounds in film directing and painting, they develop expansive narratives for art spaces. Their bodies of work are staged compositions comprising large-scale drawings, painting, installation, and performance.   ‘Alpenglühen’ deals with the impending end of the world. The flaming Doberman, Pius the Quarter-to-Twelve, is approaching our planet at breathtaking speed and threatens to wipe out all life on Earth. Politics and science are failing in the face of the impending catastrophe. Only Prof. Dr Caspar David Friedrich Mannheimer believes he is in a position to save the world at the very last moment. At present, he is sitting on the veranda of the Weisses Rössl on Lake Wolfgang, revelling in the star-studded night. In quiet anticipation of certain victory, he raises his glass to the heavens. In return, the Star of Bethlehem twinkles down from above.
