TOKYO QQQ, the Tokyo-based performance collective exploring IKIZAMA - the way one lives, presents its first international performance in Berlin during Berlin Art Week 2026. At the centre of the Berlin presentation is IKIZAMA / IKIGAI, a multidisciplinary performance bringing together body, costume, music, visual expression and space. IKIZAMA - Way of Life. How a person chooses to live. IKIGAI - Reason for Living. The joy, purpose and motivation that make life worth living. Through movement, words, music, costume and individual presence, TOKYO QQQ confronts questions of identity, belonging, pain, individuality and the desire to live. Each of its 8 members brings a radically individual physicality, history and personality to the collective. The Joy of Living. The Ecstasy and Friction of Becoming One. The Proof that I am Me. It’s not Okay, yet everything is Okay. Each member of TOKYO QQQ expresses their own IKIZAMA / IKIGAI. What does “life” mean to us? What is our way of living? What gives us a reason to live? TOKYO QQQ continues to approach these questions through the body, not in search of definitive answers, but by making the questions themselves visible. QQQ = 3Q = San-Kyu = Thank You For its Berlin debut, TOKYO QQQ collaborates with acclaimed costume artist Kodue Hibino, who creates the costumes for the performance, and visual director and artist Midori Kawano, responsible for its art direction. Creative direction is led by Hideaki Oki of OOAA, co-founder of NIOAA.
