About

In a world that grows ever louder, UNRUHE creates a space for what is essential. Not to explain the world. But to let us see it differently, if only for a moment. Because art connects where language divides. It makes visible what we have long felt, but cannot yet name. UNRUHE is not an exhibition about crises.

It is an exhibition about the power to transform them into beauty.

About

UNRUHE IS A GROUP EXHIBITION ABOUT THE STATE FROM WHICH ART EMERGES. ITS FOCUS IS NOTTHE POLITICAL PRESENT BUT THAT INNER RESTLESSNESS WHICH OFTEN ACCOMPANIES ARTISTIC WORK FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE IT BECOMES VISIBLE.

BIOGRAPHY

BIOGRAPHY

Mariya Vasilyeva (b. 1993, Kyiv) is a video and performance artist who relocated to Germany as a child. Her work examines identity, migration, gender, power relations and the effects of digitalised culture on the body. Using self-image, repetition, deformation and performance, she transforms the body into an increasingly artificial and fragmented visual entity, moving from the human toward the abstract, non-organic and uncanny.
