The worldwide unique instrument “Celestra” is in the focus of the concert. The sound of this incomparable instrument can best be described as a cathedral of sound. The artists open up a mystical source, creating audible worlds that range from spherical sounds to monumental magnificence. With the abundance of powerful frame drums, electronic sounds and the fine sounds of rarely played instruments such as the Indian sarangi and the santoor together with the cello and vocals that move between ecstasy and ethereal splendour, an acoustical shape is created that can only be experienced very rarely.
“Body of Steel” is a massive steel tank (6 x 2 x 1m) that will become a percussive instrument. A unique installation for a percussion and electronical musical piece performed by PC Nackt and Jörg Wähner. With his solo project Shramm, drummer Jörg Wähner has been appearing since 2017 with singles, EPs and remixes – usually with a design that places the acoustic drumset as the protagonist in a forest of electronic sound generators – always driven by rhythmic peculiarities and mostly in collaboration with esteemed musical companions. In addition, Wähner has been a member of the Apparat band since 2007, with whom he has recorded several albums and performed at major festivals and venues worldwide. Wähner also performs with numerous international artists, including Bodi Bill, The/Das, Andrra and Dieter Meier.
The multiple Grammy-nominated postgenre composer, performance artist and producer PC Nackt has released dozens of albums worldwide with his projects and as a collaborator of artists such as Apparat, José Gonzálès and Wim Wenders. Nackt has created music theatre/operas, composed orchestral music, movie scores, songs for pop artists and his work has been recognised with numerous international awards and chart placements. Since 2018, Nackt has been working regularly with Ralf Schmerberg and the Music Ashram.
For each Sanctum of Sound, the music Ashram puts together a 4-piece formation of guest musicians and members of the Ashram. Performing this time: Kimi Recor with her voice, gongs and modern analog synthesizers, Gogo Engst on electric guitar and electronics, Jonathan Braun on flute and saxophone and Ralf Schmerberg with Satelite Dish and percussion.
